A little coastal town on the east hand side of Serke Kemi went about its day to day business. It was a pleasant, if somewhat chilly, day and the farmers went about their daily activities as usual, tending to the fields.
Ho Flundun, one of the farmers, was tending to one of the orchids, a past time he enjoyed even though usually reserved for the females. With care and attention, he pruned and watered as required. Taking a break, he sat against the large tree that centered the Orchid, closed his eyes and relaxed, dreaming peacefully...
...an hour passed before Ho stirred, feeling a heavy breathing on his face. He opened his eyes, the readjusting to the light. A small, shadowy demon stood in front of him. In a panic, Ho tried to crawl away but was easily caught and lifted by the throat by the demon. With vile intent, the demon began punishing the peasant with powerful blows to the chest and face. With seconds, his face was cut, bruised and swollen, his ribs cracked or broken.
Ho vainly begged for mercy but, deep down, he knew the demon knew not of pity. The demon continued it's assault long after the farmers body went limp.
Dropping the farmer into a heap on the floor, the demon turned and moved toward the village......
