Marcus manages to walk, a little at a time, to this spot. He feels slightly odd as he passes out of Pathway, something he can't quite put his finger on. As he gets slightly further away, he notices the pink mist growing ever closer. When Marcus arrives at the scene of the fight, he looks about, desperately searching for his pack. Under rock and stump he looks. In and around the ruins of the little farmstead he searches, with a passing sadness at the still, bent forms of those slain by the beasts he fought. He decides to give the poor souls some dignity, and moves them into a line, crossing their now-dessicated hands over their chests.
As he searches, Marcus comes across a tinder box, and a piece of flint. He piles all the loose wood that he can find into a large heap, and then arranges the bodies on top as best he can. As he shifts the last body, of the little girl that was so cruelly murdered, the frail hands still clawed in terror, tears roll down his cheeks. No-one deserves such a fate. He vowed silently to bring justice onto those responsible. As Marcus walks back to where he left the flint and tinder, he notices a large, brown, mildewy package upon the ground, hidden from view by the body of the girl. He opens it, and finds his armour within. However, he takes no joy in his find, and turns towards the pyre. Though it takes a good while, at last Marcus manages to get the wood lit, the flames licking hungrily at the fuel. As the bodies burned, Marcus re-armoured himself, before walking back into Pathway, towards the shrine of Gerethanax. Perhaps he might find help there.
